“I don't believe in anything. I don't believe in heaven or hell; I'll be an atom in the atmosphere.”
—Marianne Faithfull; Wrocław (BBC)
A friend from college made me a cassette copy of Marianne's 1979 album Broken English. Needless to say, I was floored by what I heard and wondered where I had been. (And thankfully, I've caught up since then!)
I gathered that, as an admirer of Marianne's work, she was unafraid and unapologetic and carved a path in the world all her own.
Here is my take on “Guilt” lifted from Broken English. This performance is live from the Mauch Chunk Opera House in January 2018, joined by my friends, the Husty Brothers.
Goodnight, queen.
